Gather the Army

the-trinity-bliss:

He’s in a dark area, sitting on something that looks like crates. Knowing him, it’s crates of dynamite.

He’s leaned forward, eyes lit up and wild, drawing me in with the power he doesn’t often show, whispering a question at me:

What are you going to do?

Lokeans, well, maybe we have a bit of a leg up on this. We understand, and sometimes relish, the chance to burn shit to the ground. Our eyes light up as much as his to watch the flames (or maybe that’s just me?).

We don’t have a way out, but we do have lead time. At a minimum two months, maybe as long as three or four, depending on how quickly they start lighting their barrels of explosives.

Two months to build our fortresses. To link hands and form a protective ring around the most vulnerable. To gather our own dynamite.

To gather an army.

Make a list. Make two lists. One is the things you can do. One is the things you can’t do, but maybe can help others do.

My can list includes volunteering at the food bank, the shelters, the Sharing Center. Donating time, food, and maybe a little bit of money.

My can’t list includes taking people in – but I can help someone who’s able to take in others. You can give them a place to crash? I’ll buy you all some groceries. I’ll drive y’all where you need to go.

Get your armor. If you’re able, get your weapons. Get whatever you can lay your hands on, even if it’s a pebble. Use it.

Throw that tiny, tiny pebble in a set of gears and see what happens.

We are not helpless. We are not hopeless.

What are you going to do?

Fight at your side, Worldbreaker.
