A little video we all should take a moment to watch and think about.
Instead of thinking about what divides us we should think about what we have in common…
I’ve reblogged this on every account I have.
This is simplistic and intended to tug on heartstrings and all that shit but guys I really needed to see something about people not being dicks so if you needed that too please watch this.
Thanks for this, Denmark.
i think maybe we could all use a little simple heartstring-tugging right about now. ❤

Repeat after me: Professional recordings of musicals are the key to the revival of musical theatre within popular culture
I have been waiting all year to post this.
omg
This has been in my queue for months.
I missed it last year and I vowed that would NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
YESomg i didnt reblog this last year!
I missed it.
I know I run a book blog so maybe this isn’t the right platform for this, but girls: Please look out for other girls. Tonight I was stuck at a bus stop in Shoreditch circa 2 AM and saw another young woman getting harassed by a drunk, aggressive dude, and at first I thought, “She’s got it under control.” But then he started touching her and I went “No, that’s definitely not right.” So I barged over and shoved him out of the way and said, “Beth?? Oh my God, how are you, I haven’t seen you since grade school!” And this girl I’d never seen before in my life threw her arms around my neck and whispered, “You are an angel, thank God.” We talked for fifteen minutes, the creep lost interest, I watched her get on the bus and I will sleep so much better knowing she got home in one piece. If you see something weird happening, intervene. The worst that can happen is embarrassment, and I think that’s worth the risk when you consider the alternative.
Every platform is the right platform for this.
hey
hey friend
dont kill yourself tonight ok
you have a really pretty smile and i know its not always easy to manage one but itd be a bummer if we never had the chance to see it ever again
youre really important and you matter a lot so stay safe and try and have a nice sleep
I would like a moment to thank the people who reblog post like this so that it eventually shows on my dash.
It is keeping me alive
I actually really needed this tonight, thank you
this appeared at the indicated moment
Unbiased journalism is not pretending both sides are equally valid. Unbiased journalism is reporting the facts even if those facts include that one side is irredeemably awful. False neutrality is propaganda.
Repeated for emphasis: False neutrality is propaganda.
if 99 experts say one thing, and 1 expert says another, presenting both sides as equal is misinformation
Vote 👏🏼 in 👏🏼 the 👏🏼 2018 👏🏼 Midterm 👏🏼 Elections 👏🏼
SERIOUSLY
If you vote in Democrats, they’ll be able to block Trump’s policies
It’s not just that they’ll be able to block Drumpf’s policies for the (hopefully only) remaining two years: the
entire House of Representatives is up for re-election in 2018. Whoever
wins the House in 2018 will still control it in 2020, when we have our
next census. This means we voting districts will get to be redrawn and if Republicans retain control of the House in
2020, they will make gerrymandering even worse than it is now, which
already favors them. But the odds are severely in favor of Republicans for 2018. The election is ridiculously lopsided:
23 Democrat seats and both (there are only 2) Independent seats (who
Caucus with Dems) will be up for the taking compared to only 8
Republican seats. Not to mention midterm election turnout is always far less than POTUS elections and Republicans consistently turn out for midterms while non-Republicans fail to show up worse than they normally do.
It gets worse. This is the Senate race in 2018:
- Arizona – Currently Republican
- California – Currently Democrat
- Connecticut
– Currently Democrat- Delaware
– Currently Democrat- Florida
– Currently Democrat- Hawaii
– Currently Democrat- Indiana
– Currently Democrat- Maine
– Currently Independent- Maryland
– Currently Democrat- Massachusetts
– Currently Democrat- Michigan
– Currently Democrat- Minnesota
– Currently Democrat- Mississippi
– Currently Republican- Missouri
– Currently Democrat- Montana
– Currently Democrat- Nebraska
– Currently Republican- Nevada
– Currently Republican- New Jersey
– Currently Democrat- New Mexico
– Currently Democrat- New York
– Currently Democrat- North Dakota
– Currently Democrat- Ohio
– Currently Democrat- Pennsylvania
– Currently Democrat- Rhode Island
– Currently Democrat- Tennessee
– Currently Republican- Texas
– Currently Republican- Utah
– Currently Republican- Vermont
– Currently Independent
- Virginia
– Currently Democrat- Washington
– Currently Democrat- West Virginia
– Currently Democrat- Wisconsin
– Currently Democrat- Wyoming
– Currently RepublicanAll of the states in bold were awarded to Drumpf, 11 of which are currently held by Democrats. Republicans hold a 52 seat majority right now. If they can maintain the 8 seats they have to defend, they only need 8 Democrat and/or Independent seats to have a 60 seat supermajority and the power to pass basically anything they want under Trump for two years.
If you think it’s catastrophic now (and it is), imagine Drumpf and the Republicans with a 60 seat supermajority for two years plus a Republican House with the power to redistrict in 2020.
And that is why organizing now is critical. Getting people to run against every GOP House Member and tying every action by Trump to them. Make the 2018 elections ALL ABOUT TRUMP. This is also about taking back Governor’s Mansions.
It is NOT impossible, but it requires effort. 2018 elections efforts SHOULD ALREADY BE UNDERWAY!
@ all my american followers
Exactly.

//Absurdly helpful for people writing royal characters and/or characters who interact with royalty and members of the nobility.

Citizen is simpler and more beautiful~ but just in case anyone needs this.
DUDE BUT THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL PEOPLE
in medieval times you ONLY addressed a king/queen with “Your Majesty”, NEVER “Your Highness”. To address a king/queen with “Your Highness” was considered an insult.
Playing in a Rennisance LARP, this was one of the most frustrating thing I saw happen. At 12,id yell at full grown adults and ask them why they addressed the “king/queen” of the group as “highness” when it should never have been that. It was rude, but I got scoffed at for being 12. Not like I didn’t really dig this stuff or anything.
It wasn’t as linear as all that because there was not really a “medieval times” code book.
The official designation/style for Royalty could have been any expression of superiority:
your grace, your majesty, your excellence.
Keep in mind that a duke and a king were often separated by little more than circumstance. In power and influence they were rivals on many fields of competition.
Furthermore, as the system became more codified the rules became even less obvious. You don’t continue to say “Your Majesty” after the first statement of the title.
So it’s not really cut and dry. Write what you want and be internally consistent.
Also, for those of you wondering about Emperors/Empresses, the proper address is “Your Imperial Majesty” and introduce them as “His/Her Imperial Majesty, Emperor/Empress (name) of (their domain).”
