As someone who is a teacher (who had amazing professors in college), I can safely say that these professors DO care, but it’s a “I will acknowledge your question so you know I saw it” or “hey this student wants to bring me something that I might not have gotten myself? Hell yeah!” In the case of the coffee one, it’s definitely a “oh thank God” situation because teachers exist on caffeine and only caffeine. It’s how most of us get through the day.
But more than this, all of these students, ALL OF THEM, give a shit. They aren’t trying to skip class or get free points, they’re asking for make-up work (which never happens if the student doesn’t care), informing their professors of something that may be an inconvenience to that class, and confirming an appointment. These students CARE.
So it may seem like these professors don’t, but they do. If they didn’t care, they wouldn’t respond at all.
