For the love of good science and safety DO NOT use this recipe. If you do want to make your own glowsticks  there are some recipes here (http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Glowstick) which look similar to what I have used in science classes. WARNING: These recipes still do include controlled chemicals and requires safety equipment in their creation because unfortunately this is just the nature of  showing these chemoluminescent reactions. There are no easy “ house hold item” versions of this. So unless you are purely interested in making them for the sake of “hey fun science experiment”, it is both safer, cheaper and less time consuming to just buy some glowsticks, Plus I would assume for security reasons you are better off turning up to a rally  with legit looking glowsticks not glowing vials of glass which could be viewed as a security risk even if harmless.
