do you ever just stop and think wow what the fuck these things are real and they exist in the world like what this shit ain’t just a picture it is actually literally a thing somewhere
Yeah this is in Yellowstone national park man. It’s good, you should go sometime.
I’ve been here and it smells really bad
but it look cool doe
Fun fact about these pools: the bluer the color the hotter it is. The red rim is the coolest part and the blue is the hottest. (THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD TOUCH THE RED RIM IT IS STILL SCALDING HOT)
Fun fact: if you touch the blue part it won’t even hurt. The skin of your hand will just come right off like a loose glove.
The colors are produced by a form of bacteria so old and so alien to anything modern that it only survives at temperatures that kill any other known life.
Yellowstone is really cool.
I stopped reading at “if you touch the blue part it won’t even hurt.” to go out to yelowstone to touch that thing
please don’t touch the thing.
Also, if you go to Yellowstone, stay on the fucking walking paths/marked trails/roads. The ground there is very thin in many places, and you can fall into one of those springs in moments. When I went there last summer, we saw people walking off the road and taking pictures at the edges of the springs. One particularly stupid person was at the Grand Prismatic area, and walked off the boardwalk to retrieve his hat AT THE EDGE of the Excelsior Geyser Spring, which is, iirc, the hottest spring in the park.
Please use common sense when in Yellowstone.
